My research focuses on the statistical analysis of mass spectrometry data and the development of methodologies to improve the search for biomarkers for clinical diagnosis in the field of oncology, e.g., thyroid and kidney biopsies. I closely collaborate with researchers in pathology, proteomics, and bioinformatics, helping them analyze various types of high-dimensional biomedical data. In particular, I am investigating how to effectively analyze the large mass spectrometry datasets produced by MALDI-MSI technique (with spatial resolution from 10 to 50 μm) or by integrating multi-OMICS data to improve clustering analysis.
In addition, I am interested in creating suited statistical methodolodogies that are intended to be used for the validation of surrogate endpoint in cancer medical research (e.g., childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia). Finally, I am working on different applied problems arising in different area of Biology, Medicine and Epidemiology.
Here I report the work divided by clinical fields. To support clinicians in their clinical workflow, I am developing web applications for interactive data analysis (see Shiny Apps). For the full publication record, see Google Scholar.
